Gonzalez Ramirez and Cristian Nieto held hands at Candlewood Lake, one day after the announcement was made that same sex marriage had been made legal in New York.
Showing off their wedding bands, Ramirez said, “We met in a pub in Argentina six years ago. Our families are supportive, we have a lot of support. Every Sunday we have dinner with our family. On Christmas we are with his family and on New Years, we are with mine.”
Nieto was quiet as Ramirez continued.
“In Argentina, marriage is a national law, not a state law," Ramirez said. "Since last year, anyone can marry. That's true in Canada and Argentina, the only countries on the entire American continents that have that national law.”
“There shouldn't be any objections when two people love each other,” said Ramirez. “The feeling is the same, and all we want is to be able to take care of each other forever. Now it is legally protected.”
